Turning Point, Jennifer Kao |
|
Through an elder friend's invitation, I went to a gospel meeting and was baptized. However, because of my religious background in a Catholic junior high school, I thought that both Jesus and Mary were merely objects of worship, and that baptism was a religious pledge for the comfort of the soul. Because of my lack of appreciation and my outward circumstances, I was like a lost sheep wandering for three years. It was not until the salvation of one of my classmates that the Lord worked through her to bring me back to His flock. During that three years of wandering, I did not attend any Christian meetings, but I read all kinds of religious publications, trying to understand the Bible. However, after reading those books I still didn't understand the Bible (in fact, it would put me to sleep when I read it), and I had no breakthroughs in my prayer life. It was not until I came back to the local church that, through attending conferences, calling on the Lord with other believers, praying, and reading the Word prayerfully, I began to experience touching the Lord deep inside. The eyes of my heart were opened to see that He is not a religion, doctrine, or knowledge, but a living Person. I can call on Him, pray to Him through my enlivened regenerated spirit, which is united to Him, the indwelling, life-giving Spirit (John 3:6; 1 Corinthians 6:17). I thank the Lord that through the fellowship in the church I learned to fellowship with God in my spirit (John 4:24). Every time I exercise my spirit to call on the Lord, I experience the Lord, personally, as grace wherever I may be (1 Timothy 4:7; 2 Timothy 4:22; Romans 10:12-13). It is the Lord's grace that I can have a breakthrough to touch Him in my spirit. He has kept me in His living garden to be perfected. By attending the conferences seven times a year, I grew from drinking milk in my Christian infancy to eating the solid food in the Word. By reading Watchman Nee and Witness Lee's writings, the truth in the Bible was revealed to me and my mind was renewed, illumined by the Word of God (Romans 12:2). I used to come with only my ears, listening to God's word in the meetings without paying any price. However, I am learning to speak about the Lord, so I have to prepare. I started to exercise to labor in the Word of God, and exercise my spirit when speaking to cut straight the Word of God accurately (2 Timothy 2:15). It may seem that I pay a price to prepare and to speak, but I am actually the one who receives the most benefit. In my daily life I enter the reality of the truth in the Bible through my handling of the Word of God (1 John 2:27). In the meeting I learn to experience the inner anointing through following the flow of the Spirit in the meeting. I thank the Lord that I can be a functioning member in the Body of Christ in the local church (Ephesians 4:16). |
